Maheshwari Sarees
Maheshwari Sarees are the glory and pride of Maheshwar! Maheshwari saree is a symbol of majestic splendor and self-esteem with its unique geometric and carved designs and color combinations. Maheshwari sarees are mainly made on Pitloom i.e. the looms buried in the ground. But nowadays it is also made on the Faram Loom. Due to expensive timber and not easy access, iron has now replaced wood. Now the looms in the looms are made from iron. Maheshwari saree is plain weaved. However, it is diversified by using other methods like chakdi, stripe and use of other threads.

Bagh Prints
Bagh Print is a traditional hand block print with natural colours, an Indian Handicraft practised in Bagh, Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh, India. Bagh print fabric with replicated geometric and floral compositions with vegetable colours of red and black over a white background is a popular Textile printing product.
In this printing technique the cloth used is cotton and silk cloth which are subject to treatment of a blend of corroded iron fillings, alum and Alizarin. The designs are patterned by skilled artisans. On completion of the printing process, the printed fabric is subject to repeated washing in the flowing waters of the river and then dried in the sun for a specific period to obtain the fine luster.
Weaving and hand block printing process with the geometric designs, imaginative use of red and black natural colours and taking advantage of the chemical properties of the river and effective use of colours results in Bagh Prints in a unique art form. The process involves pre-printing, printing and post printing.

Batik Prints
Just a few kilometres from the majestic Ujjain, lies this small village of Bherugarh, on the banks of mighty Shipra River. Renowned for the splendid temple of Kaal Bhairav, the settlement is also the focal point of Batik printing. It's an age-old craft of wax-resist dyeing and printing which is believed to have been practised in the countries like Egypt, Japan and India for over 2000 years. Batik, the art of antiquity, knocked on the doors of handloom and craft industry in Madhya Pradesh during the Mughal times. Today, the village of Bherugarh consists of about 800 men and women involved in printing.
How is Batik printing done?
The process of batik printing is tough yet fascinating. For printing, the selected area of the fabric is covered with hot wax and the cloth is then dyed. The portions covered with wax resist the dye and stay in the actual colour. After the tedious process of waxing and dyeing, the wax is removed and then the fabric used for styling.
